The Ministry of Health as part of commitments towards supporting the private health sector in collaboration with the international Finance Cooperation/Worldbank will be conducting a private health sector assessment in Ghana between July and December 2009.

The objective of the assessment is to:

2. Diagnose the nature and effectiveness of the interface between the public and private sectors in Ghana. This interface includes, but is not limited to:
• the strategic intent and signaling of the government with respect to the role of the private sector;
• the policy and regulatory environment as it pertains to the private sector;
• public-private partnerships in health care;
• parastatal organizations;
• financial incentives;
• quality assurance and accreditation systems.

3. Engage in policy dialogue with the stakeholders in Ghana’s health care system and particularly with public officials and policymakers;

4. Develop recommendations, both short and long term, for reform aimed at improving the public-private partnership in Ghana such that health services are improved.
